Picked up the week four CSA box today and this is what I found:
Plus some chocolate chip pumpkin muffins - yum! Apparently the dried corn is popping corn which should be interesting to try. I made vegetable chicken noodle soup tonight with among other things, radish, delicata squash, sweet potatoes, and peppers. Hopefully it will be good. [edit: #@! I left it on the stove all night and had to toss it! Second night in-a-row (!!!) I have left food out that then had to be tossed. One would think I like cooking just for the heck of it and that money is no object. UHHHHHHGGG]
I'm going to take my four immediate coworkers each a green pepper, a delicata squash, and some jalapeno peppers. I should probably throw in an apple or two, and a tomato, or take some by one of the food shelters. I threw away several jalapenos and tomatoes this week and have a huge bunch of apples in the fridge. :-(
I roasted more peppers last night and we had tomato, basil, brie and chicken pasta last night. There is a bunch in the fridge. Also some lentil soup I made with squash, okra, and kale (among other veggies) from last weeks box. I feel I should be canning, or need a much bigger freezer. I need to clean out my freezer to make room, but that means eating more and I certainly don't need to be doing that!
I pulled this in from our yard:
We have a bunch more peppers almost ready, and would have had more orange peppers if my lack of watering and our scant rain hadn't killed our orange pepper plant. The orange cherry tomato might finally be about to stop producing - I pulled in at least a pint in the last week.
I wonder if it is too late to plant broccoli and kale....
